If your child is suddenly clingy, has tummy aches, begins counting, washes their hands excessively or begins to have sleeping difficulties, he or she may be suffering anxiety.
There are many causes of anxiety including genetics, environmental factor or it may be a case of modelling from an anxious parent.
It may be insightful to learn about the type of anxiety your child might have – there are about nine – different sorts.
- separation anxiety,
- obsessive compulsive disorder,
- selective mutism,
- social phobia,
- post-traumatic stress and
- specific phobias such as the dark.
You may wish to consider paediatric involvement, medication or therapy.
